Second Grade Work!

 

August 

1) Students are reintroduced to the "Computer Lab Rules" 

2) Students are given a computer reading test.  "STAR" reading tests determine their reading levels.

 

 

 

September

1) Second Graders will begin a project about themselves. The students will research information about themselves using the Internet. Projects are saved to the school server as the completed project takes several weeks to complete.

 

October

1) Students will complete "About Me" projects and print in color.

2) Students visit the National Geographic Website to research an animal and copy a picture onto a MS Word document. After typing the names of the animals and their full names, students print papers.

3) Students visit "mad libs" online and insert simple parts of speech to create Wacky Halloween tales.  Students then print selections only.

4) Students create a poster for Red Ribbon Week using MS Word and "WordArt." 

November

1) Students create an "Acrostic Poem" using their names.  Students use describing words, MS Word "Word Art,"  "Kidspiration," and "Paint."  This project takes several weeks.

2) Students create Thanksgiving cards using MS Word.

December

1) Students continue working on "Acrostic Poems."  Projects are printed in color.

 

January

1) Students are given "Star" reading test. 

2)  Students visit Internet website "Dance Mat Typing" to begin keyboarding skills.

3) Students begin "Riddle Project."

February

1) Students finish up "Riddle Projects" and read other students' work by "Cha Cha-ing" around the classroom.

2)  Students open MS Word files and type a short sentence.  Students then use file tools to edit work.

March

1)  Students visit Nick on the Internet.  Students must register and obtain a Login account as well as password in order to visit "Rugrats Wildlife Rescue Game."
